What Happens During the First Dental Visit
We want to make the dental office a fun and exciting place for kids to come! During the first visit our goal is to make your child comfortable at our office and with our staff. The first thing we’ll do is give your child a ride in the chair and pick out some cool sunglasses to wear during their visit. Your child will have a cleaning, exam, and xrays done while we take extra time to explain each step. We will make your child comfortable, and most importantly we’ll make it fun! After their first visit your child will get a special prize, and for every subsequent visit they will also get a token to use in our treasure tower.
What is the “No Cavity Club”?
Kids who are cavity free after their visit can enter to win! The No Cavity Club Drawing is held every month, and the winner is called to come to the office to pick up their prize! They will also get their photo taken, and with parent’s permission, we display it for everyone to see for the entire month!
Age 0–6: The Growing Years
A baby’s four front teeth usually erupt first, typically at about 6 months. Most children have a full set of 20 primary teeth by the time they are 3 years old. A child’s first dental visit should be scheduled at age 3.
Age 6–12: The Transition Years
Age 6 is when children typically begin to lose their primary teeth. The first permanent molars usually erupt between ages 5 and 6. Dental Sealants are placed on the newly erupted permanent teeth during this period to help prevent decay. Regular cleanings and fluoride treatments are encouraged. You can also help by enforcing good homecare (i.e. regular brushing and flossing).
